Just looked up a YC229 on Google. Looks like it needs a socket to me?

Are you sure the number is correct?

##  well, the YC-243  sure as heck doesn’t need a socket.
The 3CX-1200Z7  doesn’t need a socket either.

## Any metal GG triode doesn’t really need a socket.   All you
require is a grid flange, 2 x lugs on the bottom for the fil.... and the
usual anode connector. They should have dumped the sockets on these
GG triodes a long time ago.
