[Amps] ALS-1306 and others

A cheaper way to get into the K3 bandwagon is the KX-3 at $1000 and the SPE Expert 1K-FA ATU at about $2700. which gives more RF than the Elecraft 500 watt unit at $3000 with ATU.

Another thought is to use the SPE 1.5K-FA ATU with stupendous gain (defeated in USA versions, so get international version) at about $4500 and have over a KW from the KX3 as a driver. This pairing seems the unsung secret combo for KX-3 lovers, and both units are about as small as can be.

Get two 1.3K and the SPE CO-1 HF and your KX-3 station puts out over 5KW. Wouldn't it be interesting to have the little KX-3 in your hand with so much RF going out to the antenna.

Wonderful world, 73, Charly

W6PQL has built one with an NXP LDMOS device. A pair of those with appropriate level of negative feedback for stabilty, running at 750W each would be a world beater. A pair of LDMOS devices cost less than a Chinese 8877.
