[Amps] Amps Digest, Vol 146, Issue 27

Some time ago I was considering a ALS-1300 for my station. Read good
reviews of the very first ones, and so-forth, inquired as to price and
such from MFJ. Was told (at that time) of a long wait due to making sure
that when the amp left the plant *everything * would be in best order.

Waited two or so months, gave up and bought a AL-82. Maybe build
control and bullet proofing is very strict on this, a new "everman's" SS
HF amp that won't give up the ghost in a nano second when Henry
Dumbthumbs forgets something.

What I found interesting was the amp looks like two of their 600 Po amps
ganged together using a Armstrong combiner to get the power out to the
SO-239. I know what a combiner is from FM antenna work, but had not
heard/seen one used in a HF application.
