[Amps] Alpha 9500 vs. Acom 2000A questions

I wonder if the 9500's firmware limit is a hangover from the 87A firmware, which has the same limit. My recollection is that it was set low to protect the PIN diodes. Of course the 9500 doesn't have PIN diodes.
