If hams have been running Drake L4 and L4B amps since the early 70's or perhaps before with the L4 at zero bias, why all of a sudden you want to idle the thing down just because it is for 6 meters?  Too low idle current requires more drive from the exciter and you get less power for a given drive. NOT WHAT YOU WANT TO DO IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO SQUEEZE MORE POWER OUTPUT.
>>> This was the “self” cut off bias mod, which I’ve done on all 3 of my L4B’s not just the 6 meter one and had no issues before. I understand this is a different kind of beast and plays by some different rules, I am learning slowly. Thank you for your input Lou, I will make some adjustments to the self cut off bias to raise the idle current<<<
