[Amps] 30L1 keying

Thanks for the plug, Jerry. Yes, the simple amplifier keying circuit in the
StationPro is rated at 400V at 250 mA, AC or plus or minus DC. so it will
key virtually any homebrew or commercial amplifier. 

Here are a few additional details. The circuit uses four 1/4 watt resistors,
a single 2N3906 transistor, and a PLA140 solid state relay (in a six pin DIP
package, available from Mouser). The total cost is under ten dollars. The
circuit runs on +12V (not critical) and can be built on a couple of terminal
strips or a homemade PCB. It can be incorporated into an amplifier (e.g., a
30L1) or as a standalone device on the amp keying line of a transceiver. The
circuit is very fast, about 2 mS switching time, so it is suitable for QSK.
The voltage across the keying line is 12V at a maximum of 2 mA, so  it is
safe to use with any transceiver. The circuit diagram is on page three of

 The parts to look for on the schematic are Q101, R102, R103, R105, R106 and
K114. I've used the circuit on amps ranging from a 30L-1 (-160V), to various
homebrew amps (+24V), to an NCL2000 (6VAC). It will probably even key a
115VAC Dow Key relay, but no guarantees!
