Subject: [Amps] re idling current alpha 9500 amp

Would appreciate if any of you folks that own an alpha 9500 amplifier if you
would check and see what your idling plate current is with the amp keyed
but without rf drive.
Thanks from Fern VE7GZ

## what does the manual say ? What are the eimac specs for typ use ?
I thought the alpha amps all had ebs......aka... 3 stage electronic bias.

## Typ,. the plate current is cut off on RX. Then when keyed, but no drive applied,
idle current is typ 20-25 ma. With a tiny bit of drive applied, bias Vdc is further reduced,
so normal 150-200 ma idle is achieved.
