Be careful with this. Some older ohm meters use very high current and
can damage sensitive meter movements. 

If you have any doubts, measure the current through the ohm meter
probes first and be sure it is less than the full scale of the meter
you want to measure. 

Don't ask how I found this out years ago.  :-)

##  agreed if an old simpson VOM or heath VTVM used.   But if u use something like a 
Fluke 87,  it wont be an issue.   But clip one side of SB-220 meter...then  quickly touch
the other side of the sb-220 meter.   If it doesnt peg, u are ok.   Most of these newer fluke DVMs
use extremely low  dcv  to measure current.
