According to several reports on this group, the GS-35b needs to be run
at an anode voltage of about 4000 VDC to get decent efficiency. I
built one that ran at only 3000 VDC and the efficiency was only about
50%. Admittedly, 4 kV exceeds the manufacturer's ratings but it seems
to work OK. You should expect in the range of 60-65%.
