I have to disagree.  A pair of 3-500Z's has 1 kW plate diss, which is
enough if you can get 60% efficiency which is not hard. Many amps with
two tubes are limited by the power supply, not the tubes. 

My Alpha 9500 with a single 8877 will do RTTY key down all day with
barely noticeable fan noise.
