Jim,

a piece of advice to solve that tree climber problem: Get a drone! A 
good stabilized drone will get a fishing line exactly over the branch 
where you want it, and its FPV camera system allows you to closely 
examine the tree to search for the smoothest spot of the healthiest branch!

It's beyond me how any ham having nice big trees on his property can 
still live without a drone! ;-)
