Dont forget that a good location will increase the total gain up to 11 dB
or so and if the TA program is used the height will be selected to put the
power where wanted.

An old CC 40-2CD is an easy conversion to 30. Im over 250 DXCC on 30 with
100 and 150W rigs and pushing 150 with 5W without trying very hard.

A 30 meter beam size would be between a 40 meter and 20 meter size and a lot
of hams build both. A 3 element beam for 30 meters would probably give at
least a 6 db gain, which is equivalent to increasing your transmitter power
by 4 times. A 100 watt transmitter power into a 6 db gain antenna would be
equivalent to running 400 watts into a vertical or dipole which usually have
little gain.
