That sounds like a great idea. We don't even need a box, because there is an elevator enclosure already there on the roof and then a short run to the antenna.

One option would be to put the amp in a weatherproof box at the antenna.
That way any losses occur in the path from the exciter to the amp, and
with reasonable exciter power you can drive the amp to its limit.
