[Amps] Amps Digest, Vol 208, Issue 9

The KW matchbox has an AC relay. Its operated for TR switching from any
of the Johnson transmitters. Later models added a selenium rectifier and
a capacitor to the circuit to place DC on the relay coil. This was done
to add a delay to the antenna switching.  Class C amplifiers really get
upset when you pull the antenna out from under them.  This allowed the
transmitter to unkey and then, with a slight delay, the antenna relay
would switch.

If you wish to disable the relay you can simply unscrew the braid leads
and move them over to the other side of relay. You can remove the
rectifier and cap and feed AC to the relay or you can feed DC to the
relay.  You can send me a picture of the relay and I can see if it is
factory and what has been done. I have rebuilt and or repaired a number
of these.
