The true cost of  BIRD  for the ham is realy large. Due to the spec of 
5% of FULL SCALE..means that one must have a stack of BIRD slugs to get 
multi levels of power VS frequency covered.

One of the beauties of the LP-100 is the spec...  "Power accuracy is 
better than 5% at any frequency from ~1W to maximum, 3% typical with 
NIST traceable factory calibration"""   no slugs necessary.....
