I'm a bit of a clutz mechanically. Tim's method looked solid, so I tried 
it on a few connectors, and only made a mess. I have had great success 
with conventional through the holes soldering. The secret for me is a 
big, temperature controlled iron, and a big bench vice to hold the work.
