I think it would be time for some experimentation. These are large enough that it would still provide more than enough power for amateur work.

Aloha Bill,
For single phase, look at flux.
If you excite the winding on one leg of the core, the flux passes through
all three legs.
Core saturation will reduce the kVA rating to very roughly, 1/3 of the 3
phase rating.
