How can I test my used 3CX800A7 tubes?

I found the 3CX800A7 data sheet here:
https://www.cpii.com/docs/datasheets/174/3CX800A7.pdf and checked for shorts
and opens between the pins as a preliminary step.
 
Is it valid to put them in my Alpha 87A, and note how much drive is required
to achieve 1,500 watts as a relative test?

Can I RS-232 into the 87A's uP and read parameters while transmitting?
