ERAÜ/ERAY Summer Camp at Kodavere
30.6. – 2.7.2000.
QTH: KO38NQ
Welcome to the XXXVII Estonian radioamateurs summer camp at Kodavere, on
the coast of Lake Peipsi!
Location: The site at Kodavere is situated between the cities of
Kallaste and Mustvee, right on the shore of the lake and also very near
to the road – so no opportunities to loose your way, it’s all very
simple to arrive! For those who are coming from Tallinn, we recommend to
drive to Mustvee and then turn south towards Kallaste. For those who
come through Tartu should drive to Kallaste first and then just further
along the rather straight road until the camp takes you off from the
route. You will not miss the camp as it is just 5-10 meters from the
road. For VHF fans - the camp’s QTH locator is KO38NQ.
More location info (maps etc.) can be found on ERAY web-page:
http://www.erau.ee/eng
Arriving: The first ES-hams probably arrive already on
Wednesday-Thursday, the organizers guarantee their services starting
from Thursday. Many ES-hams usually arrive on Friday afternoon-evening
as the “night-before” party is always a good place to meet old friends
and have a chat about what has been happening in our hobby-world.
Schedule: The camp will be officially opened on Saturday (1st of July)
morning at 11.00 with the traditional ceremony of giving awards and
trophies to hams for different contest achievements. There will be
various events and opportunities to take part in several actions during
the day, but a more detailed agenda will follow in the future.
Facilities and opportunities to relax: The camp has a decent small kiosk
with food and beverages available 24h a day. It also has a well with
enough good quality drinking-water for everybody, the caravans and tents
can supply themselves with electricity, but necessary power-cables must
be taken along by visitors themselves (as the site is rather large, then
count with at least 30-40m of cable, in the worst case even more, it
depends on your exact position on the field). The shore of the lake is
quite high (3-4 m of small bank), thus enables a nice view over the
water. The organizers have a chance to offer several opportunities to go
in for water sports and other activities – swimming, a trip on a boat or
a ship, fishing, riding on a horse etc. There are places to make fire
and also to grill your meat or fish. Besides, the locals promised to
supply us with enough fresh and warm smoked fish of the lake called
“rääbis” – like a small herring…
Accomodation: For those who are not coming with their own tents or
caravans there are also opportunities to get decent accomodation in
guest houses a bit away from the camping site. One guest house is ca 4
km (along the road) away from the shore and is built into an old
landlord’s building. It has up to 20 places, mostly the rooms are having
2 or 3 beds in them. Prices are very good, 120 Estonian crowns for a
night per person with breakfast included. Another place is a bit nearer
and has about 10 places, here the pricing is little bit higher but not
substantially. If still not enough, there are also some other
accomodation possibilities nearby. All the accomodation sites have
renovated and nice premises with WC and shower shared usually for two
rooms or so.
The organizers kindly ask those guests (especially non-ES) who intend to
use accomodation, to register themselves by sending your booking or your
preliminary wish to the following e-mail address: es5mc@erau.ee. This
will not put any final obligation on you yet, but will give us an
indication what we have to count with while accomodating you. The
deadline on the final booking of the places is 22nd of June.
We hope to see you at Kodavere!
Arvo, ES5MC
