Toivottavasti Suomesta saadaan ääneen aktiivinen SRAL HQ -asema. Ruotsista on tulossa SKxHQ, jolla on asemia ainakin 3 - 5 hyvällä asemalla ympäri Ruotsia.

> Friends,
>
> The big international Olympics-style amateur radio contesting
> championship
> WRTC 2000 in Slovenia will take place soon.
>
> One would be hard pressed to find someone who thinks that amateur radio
> contesting is a spectator sport. There does not appear to be much
> excitement
> in sitting back, tuning a receiver across the bands and listening to
> others
> participate in a contest.
>
> The exception might be stopping to listen to a gifted operator run
> through a
> string of contacts like a fine-tuned machine, while at the same time he
> or
> she introduces a noticeably human aspect into the fun through greetings
> to
> friends and newcomers alike.
>
> We do have one event, however, that is definitely worth "watching" --
> the
> World Radiosport Team Championship. The championship is held every four
> years
> as an Olympic-style gathering of the best of the best contest operators
> from
> around the world. This year, some 106 operators from every corner of the
> world will converge on Bled, Slovenia in southern Europe to compete for
> the
> Bronze, Silver and Gold team medals. Those medals will proclaim which
> best of
> the best teams have risen to the top of the pile during the week of
> competitive operating events.
>
> In addition to the actual competitors, hundreds of other contesters and
> interested amateur radio operators will be present to support the event,
> their favorite team or just immerse themselves in the glow of
> camaraderie
> that will prevail throughout the action-packed week.
>
> Although WRTC 2000 will not be covered in the international news media
> networks, you really won't need their coverage to follow the action in
> Bled.
> Instead, all you need to enjoy the energy of this historic event is an
> amateur radio low band radio and a computer.
>
> Use the computer to visit there site daily. The National Contest Journal
> will
> also provide increasingly frequent in-depth coverage of WRTC 2000,
> peaking
> during the actual competition. We will naturally focus a bit more on the
> teams coming from this side of the Atlantic, but our coverage will
> include
> stories of interest to contesters around the world.
>
> You can actually participate in the main event that will be used to
> determine
> whom the winners are. Just get on the air during the July 8-9 IARU HF
> Championship and make a contact with every unique "S5" call sign (see
> below)
> you hear on SSB and CW. The operators behind those call signs are the
> fellows
> making their final run for the Gold. They will be eagerly seeking to log
> every one of you!
>
> Have your signals heard in Slovenia, Europe, July 8-9, during WRTC 2000!
>
> Get on the air Saturday - Sunday, July 8-9, and be a Good Neighbor, by
> making
> QSOs in the World Radiosport Team Championship. Fifty-three stations,
> all in
> Slovenia, but operated by two-ham teams from around the world, will be
> operating for 24 hours.
>
> They will be looking for you on 80-10 meters on CW and SSB, so please
> work
> them all! Sunrise in Slovenia: 03:26UTC Sunset 18:48UTC
>
> WRTC rules: Work each station on each mode (CW and SSB) on each band.
> Your exchange is signal report and your ITU Zone, which can be found on
> the
> ARRL website under contest rules for IARU HF Championship - or email me
> at
> k7bv@aol.com and I will help out.
