WRTC2002 LANDED SAFELY IN JAPAN

The Japanese "Ham Fair" took place August 31-September 2 in Yokohama and
WRTC2002 representatives Martti Lane, OH2BH and Dennis Motschenbacher, K7BV were present to insure the attendees had a opportunity to learn about the
World Radiosport Team Championship games that will take place next July in
Finland. They manned two different booths throughout the hours of the
gathering. In the evenings, they attended a variety of functions amongst the
JA contesters and DXers.

During the event Mr. Tack Kumagai, JE1CKA was invited to act as the WRTC2002
representative in Japan, an invitation he eagerly accepted. Tack immediately
launched WRTC2002 pubic awareness and fund raising activities amongst the JA
domestic and international contesting communities.

A major sponsoring agreement was signed during the weekend with Mr. Jun
Hasegawa, president of Vertex Standard Co.Ltd, making Yaesu the principle
radio equipment company for WRTC2002.
The entire WRTC2002 odyssey to Japan was supported by CQ Ham Radio magazine, DX Family Foundation, Japan Crazy Contesters Club, Yaesu and many
individuals. The effort netted more than 14.000 U.S dollars in donations and
pledges.

Sincere thanks are due: 7J1ATX, JA1ELY, JA1RJU, JE1CKA, JF1IST, JF1SQC,
JH1ARJ, JH1KRC, JN1WTK, JP1NWZ, JR1AIB, JR1CBC, and JR1NUO.
