Comments: I took part in this contest once again running low power as on CW
just to test my new mult tower (12m high) to make sure, that everything
works fine. If something has to be changed I still have plenty of time to do
that before CQWW. I could not run HP because I got bad RF-feedback when I
connected my DVK in the line. I even had problems with just 100W and I just
hope that my audio was not too crappy to copy. I had to lean over the table
in a very awkward position to minimize the RF-feedback, which did not do
very good to my back or my score. Furthermore I had to reduce my microphone
gain and compression level quite a bit from the normal settings, which made
my voice a lot thinner. I had to struggle through the contest with my aching
back and at one moment I thought, that I am not going to make it this time.
Luckily I only needed to get a brief break and I was back in the game. Now I
know, that I should avoid hard physical excercise before the contest :-)
Maybe I should also find a better voice-keyer than my old DVK, which has
already been very troublesome in many other contests before.

The start of the contest was quite different from CW-weekend. I had to call
CQ for very long time and finally I had to jump quickly from one band to
another to maintain some rate. The bands did not feel very good. I knew,
that breaking the OH-record would be very difficult if the propagation won't
improve to some extent. Later when the higher bands went down I tried 40m
band but it was very difficult to find a frequency and even more difficult
to get any replies to CQs. I missed many multipliers from Asia. On 80m I had
only a poor inverted vee. The feedpoint of the dipole was just 10m high and
the ends almost touched the ground. No woder, that my multiplier count on
80m is so low although I spent quite a bit of time there. So the night was
very difficult time for me but before 03Z I managed to work a few stations
from USA on 40m listening up but my rate really sucked. Finally at 04Z I
could get some replies from Japan on 15m band and I stayed there almost 3
hours. Before 06Z I hurried to 20m band to try if the West coast would be
coming through. Once in a while I tried to get a pile-up into Japan on 15m
or 10m bands but the conditions were a way down compared to the propagation
during the CW-weekend. I also tried to dance some Mieto mazurka (a northerly
variation of the famous Paksalo polka performed by OH2U) and from time to
time it was awarded with 3 new multipliers. During the last hour there were
some signs of improving propagation when 15m opened into USA. At 1200Z I
carefully disengaged myself from my operating chair. I would feel the
contest during the next couple of days in my back.

Thanks again for the QSOs! It was great to meet so many WRTC- and other
operators, that I have had pleasure to work many times in the contests over
the years.

Congratulations to Marko, OH4JFN for the magnificent score. You really
kicked my ...

Congratulations to Pasi, OH6UM. You probably won the combined trophy.

73 and work you in CQWW SSB de Teijo OH6NIO
