Re: Application for DX-expedition support

Gentlemen,
Dear HAM friends,

The demand to activate Amateur radio from Sable Island was increasing steadily in the past years and therefore it is our pleasure to announce a plan to put CY0 into many HAM's LOG book including 6m, RTTY and low bands. Most probably this year will be the last one of the 23rd Solar Cycle when large number of contacts can be made specially on the higher bands.

Due to our experience in DX-pedition (CY0DX, CY9R, 3A2, VY1) we are well aware of that this plan would be possible to execute only with the support of HAMs, amateur radio organizations and related businesses.

Sable Island is one of the most remote Canadian islands, and it is infamous of its difficult access by sea, due to the surrounding shallow waters, that have been proven deadly for many navigators during past
centuries. Presently the only Canadian Coastguard approved safe transportation to the island is a dedicated charter flight, with specially equipped airplane, since the island does not have any man made airstrip. However this flight is expensive, as well as accommodation and associated costs are very high on Sable Island. George and myself made the trip in 1997 bearing all our costs, but since than prices went up considerably. This time we would like to raise funds to cover the costs.

Success of this DX-pedition is depends upon Organizations like yours. We hope your members will appreciate the involvement and will enjoy chasing this rare DXCC country throughout the bands.

Any assistance your Organization can offer, no matter how modest will be greatly appreciated. Your donation will be acknowledged on the QSL card, on the InterNet site and in printed media.

Thank you for your time and effort. Your prompt attention and notification would be greatly appreciated.
