After SSB part I was really dissapointed. My SOAB operation from OH0Z faced
some problems and my effort (and score as well) was unacceptable. When
preparing in CW-part I have to say, that SSB part was clearly in my mind, and
the "self motivation" wasn't so easy. My only goal for CW part was to go to do
M/M to superb OH0Z station with OH2U gang (www.oh2u.com).
Because of some very challenging problems it was clear that I will not be able
to do CW part with so great OH2U team. It was hit towards my face.
I have been building my contest station a while and the station extending
process is still in phase. Anyway the current station is full SO2R LP capable
and is now (without any unexpected damages) quite good phase so that you don't
need to anything but configure software and plug electricity on. I didn't even
think any other possibilities, because a lot of work has to been put to build
own station...
I was trying to leave friday quite early so I can get everything ready for the
contest, but it wasn't possible to leave from work so early. Anyway I managed
to configure logging software even though there seemed to be obviusly some
problems with the latest TR so I switched back to previous version...I was
ready to start the contest, without any deep understand what is happening on
the bands, because I haven't so much time to do any "band sweeping".
I got sleep some good sleep before contest and I was feeling OK. My main goal
was to efficiently use SO2R for full 48h hours and keep fun. Propagation seemed
to be quite good, and I started to run like grazy. As expected the first night
is quite hard. Bands was in quite full and it was very hard to get even
europeans in log. It was quite supprise to hear JA friends to booming in 10m
during first morning and I was sure that the whole contest can be a great if
the propagation remains at least good.
I have to say that I was quite lazy with mults during saturday..I was doing
simultaneus RUN+S&P / S+P/S+P with both radios. Somehow it was not so easy to
get needed stations to QSY =( They just ignored my qsy attempts;).
After the first day I noticed that it can be possible to achieve quite nice
score and I was quite sad that my mult count was so low. I made some quick
analysis and estimated that 550 mults can be achieved if I can carefully do the
rest contest. I started to put attention to mults even I same time tried to
maximize my qsos.
During sunday I still lost a lot of juicy mults...I'm quite sure that over
3000kpoints was possible, if just doing better job with mults..DOU! Anyway,
previous SOAB LP OH-record was made by OH4YR from my station last year. It was
time to set propably new record and new challenges for the next year;)
After that great contest It is just hard to wait when to get some linear amps
in my ham shack and start to contest in HP-class;)
Thanks for all who have supported me to build this station up...Special thanks
to OH7WV for letting me host his Sixpack relaybox for this whole contest
season;)
