Sirs!

FO/OH1RX on kuitenkin kaukana Tahitilta, joten saattaa
hyvinkin signaali Suomeen putkahtaa hieman eri reittejä.
Pojat voisivat myös kokeilla paikallisempiä TEP-kelejä.

P.S. Laitoin 50 MHz:n TEP ennusteet VK9W-operaatiolle:

http://www.uksmg.org/announce_cs.php

VK9W: The geomagnetic equator is offset by about 10 degrees to the North
from the geographic equator, so Willis Island is in an excellent position
for TEP-contacts, even in Solar Minimum. If you make sufficient propaganda
in the Japanese media, there will be hundreds of contacts possible (I would
not even exclude 144 MHz experiments)... With due respect to other
estimates, I would like to stress the fact that if you look TEP-wise into
Africa or the Pacific, from a populated area, the results will me meager...
however, if you are on the other side, looking into alert dense population
areas, then the results will be often nothing short of spectacular... My
optimistic estimates given for rare spots have been in practice even
surpassed during real expeditions (like the VP8/G3WOS operation and
others).... Evening (local 18-21) time TEP will be most prevalent from
VK9-Willis, but look for afternoon skip as well... In propagation there are
plenty exceptions to the "rules" --- 73, "Zaba" OH1ZAA/OHoMZA ---

DL7AV/Tom, you may appreciate this link
http://home.iprimus.com.au/toddemslie/aTEP-Harrison.htm to VK2ZRH:s
observations in Townsville/VK4, not too far from VK9-Willis... In support
of Costas/SV1DH's comments I would shade the target areas in the graph a
little differently (also more Eastward of Japan)... Nice things in Solar
flux can happen any time in Solar Minimum, like this minor peak
http://www.dxlc.com/solar/ in Mid December 2007 (certainly sufficient to
enhance TEP when it occurs during the wide equinox periods, like October
2008)--- My personal approach to propagation is recursive, i.e. I assume
that the bands are open (default for me as an operator) and subsequently I
try to find proof that it isn't so ... generally my study is resulting in a
list of logged stations or beacons, so I am happy enough to proceed this
way... However, this also means that we preferably need an operator
obsessed with 50 MHz at VK9W (or any other DX-pedition) --- 73, "Zaba"
ex-FOoZA PJ2/OH1ZAA (FK52KG) with plenty of 1992 March longpath-JA's in the
50 MHz log and a couple of 144 MHz TEP QSO's to LU (FF48 and such) ---
