[CCF] QSP FM EA7ADH: SANDY AND CO8LY

October 25 2012, 0,00 hours A.M. the hurricane Sandy begin to strike the 
city of Santiago de Cuba (Cuba), with winds of 285 km/hour ( 176,7 mph), 
with strong rain also, the duration of the huuricane was 3 hours, at 
3,00 AM finish the tragedy.

The damage are very important, the electric and phone line was destroy, 
many home are totaly demolish, and many others suffer very big damages. 
That is the case of home of Eduardo (CO8LY). The roof was of tile and 
the wind pull up all the roof, and the false roof overthrow inside the 
building destroying all there are in the home of Eduardo.

At home, live, the grandmother and the grandfather of Eduardo, his wife 
and his daughter, and him self. His mother after the hurricane, have 
severe injury, and his blood pressure are very high.

He lose, all furniture, beds, clothes and his radio shack, with computer 
and also the antennas.

There are charged four truck for to clean the home of Eduardo of devries.

Actually, the family live, at homes of several family, and his principal 
anxiety is to restore his home , for to was a family, and not live any 
in various homes.

The past November 8, I have and e-mail from Eduardo, telling me, that 
the specialist governmental, that are inspected his home, tell him , the 
cost of to put a new roof is approximately 4.166,66$ U.S. or 3.270,00EUR.

Actually, the best way for to help, Eduardo and his family, is send 
money to him, there are now donation for amount of 1.000,00$, that are 
send to his manager ham from USA, Finland, Italy, Germany, Norway. But 
Eduardo and his family, need at least four times this quantity.

The salary, of Eduardo is 10$ for month, and his family have a little 
incoming of money, that are similar to the salary of Eduardo.

His big income of money, for subsist is the radio, he stay in radio 
normally 10-12 hours a day, and this are a mensual incoming of 150$ at 
month maximum.

Now, after the hurricane, all has gone.

All the donations, are sending to the account in paypal of his manager, 
ea7adh, that collect and resend to Eduardo.

I am preparing a dossier with all the awards of CO8LY, for to contact 
with the national association of radioamateurs all around the world, and 
with the sellers and manufacturer of radios, antennas, etc for tu put 
again in the air the station of CO8LY, that is my challenge, and I think 
also alls of ham that are in this years a qso with CO8LY.

El 25 de Octubre del 2012, entre las 00,00 horas y las 3,00 horas de la 
madrugada el huracán Sandy, atravesó la ciudad de Santiago de Cuba, los 
vientos alcanzaron la velocidad de 285 km/hora (176,7 mph), y la lluvia 
que lo acompañaba fue torrencial.

Los daños en infraestructura han sido muy cunatiosos, derribando tendido 
eléctrico, telefónico y arruinando miles de casas.

La casa de Eduardo y su familia, (CO8LY), ha sufrido los terribles daños 
del huracán, arrancando el tejado y cayendo el techo sobre el interior 
de la vivienda, destrozando todo lo que había debajo, muebles, camas, 
armarios, ropa, y todo el set de radio de Eduardo, emisora, 
amplificador, fuente de alimentación, modem de packet y modos digitales, 
ordenador, y antenas.

Todos estaban dentro mientras esto ocurria y la mas perjudicada ha sido 
su madre, una mujer de avanzada edad, que sufrió además de multiples 
contusiones, un amago de infarto porque tiene la tensión arterial muy 
descompensada.

Lo han perdido todo, se necesitaron cuatro camiones para sacar los 
escombros de la casa, actualmente viven repartidos por casas de 
diferentes familiares.

Estamos solicitando ayuda monetaria, para enviarla via transferencia 
bancaria a Eduardo, ya que es la mejor forma de ayudarle, porque el 
adquirirá en el mercado local lo mas necesario y urgente, que es poner 
un techo a la casa y comprar algo de ropa ya que la perdieron toda.

Hoy, 8 de Noviembre he recibido un e-mail de Eduardo, diciéndome que los 
técnicos han visitado la casa, y que solo la reposicion del techo vale 
mas de 100.000 pesos cubanos, lo que equivale a 4.166,66$ ó 3.270,00EUR. 
Deciros que el sueldo actual de Eduardo es de 10 $/mensuales ó 7,84EUR 
al mes. Sus mayores ingresos provenían de la radio y las qsl, el pasaba 
diariamente en radio no menos de 10 horas, y esto le reportaba unos 
ingresos mensuales de 150$ máximo , con los cual podía atender a su 
familia, padres, esposa e hija, que acaba de empezar a estudiar en la 
universidad.

La ayuda la estamos canalizando atraves de mi cuenta en paypal, donde 
recibo las donaciones y las envio a Eduardo. Soy su manager desde hace 
muchos años, y hemos decidido conjuntamente hacerlo asi y centralizar 
todo el correo y las donaciones atraves mia, ya que sus cuentas de 
correo electrónico no funcionan, no tiene ordenador y las cosas allí 
ahora mismo no son nada fáciles, teniendo que prestar atención a la 
familia, a conseguir alimentos, y a ver si puede empezar la reparación 
de la casa.
