shorter contest definately favor better operators, higher CW speeds, better
equipment, etc. but longer contest do not favor the converse, as illustrated
by Novice Roundup which extends over 9 days but is limited to 30 hrs op. the
key is to have enough going on so everyone is happy, or at least suffering
the same disadvantage. the comments certianly suggest an interest in a 24 hr
contest, so why not make it more interesting - and difficult at the same time.
for example, limit operation to 6 hours in any single band. now you have to
where the rest of the world is operating, and when. No if you want a run of
JA's, it is not enough for the band to open between you; they may be using
the time to pick up multipliers elsewhere. i am sure those with more insight
could explain this better, but does this illustrate a new type of contest.
also, single band operation would limit one to six hours total. thus awards
would be more numerous perhaps.
