24 Hour Category and the Future

I can see it now ...

Some kind of 24 hour category is added to the ARRL DX contest.  Activity and
 interest level increases slightly.

Then, in a political decision to placate the anti-contest ARRL membership
contingency (you know, that huge percentage that wants DECREASED coverage of
contests in QST), the entire contest period is shortened to 24 hours. 

Am I being paranoid ?  

If you really want a 24 hour category, you may get what you asked for....and
more.
