If you recognise that you are an AMATEUR golfer then you should be
satisfied to play in an AMATEUR golf league that awards 'handicaps' to
encourage more participation by providing a 'level playing field'.  If
you want to be a professional golfer and enter the US Open then accept
the rules associated with the profession and 'big money'. 

I prefer to remain an AMATEUR golfer and amateur radio (as legislated)
and request that as an AMATEUR radio operator I be afforded the same
rights in my AMATEUR radio contests as my AMATEUR golfing associates -
an equitable 'handicap' for all participants.
