Sound card/CD ROM advice?

I'm interested in getting a sound card which supports the JE3MAS simulator,
and a "matching" CD ROM for ham and other reference info/data lookup, etc.
I have no great interest in multi-media, and don't need fast access time.
Saw $299 combo in latest DAK catalog--anyone know if that card will support
JE3MAS?  Any advice on btr deals available?  Reply to ttotten at attmail.com.
Oh yeah...I need an EXTERNAL CD ROM.
