The allure is still there. Don't tell me you operate contests to win a
popularity contest in your club. JP, are you running for office?

Have you ever heard of teleconfrencing or videoconferencing. You don't have to
be there to participate in an exchange of ideas.

Its not worthless & it definitely is not a waste of time.

Gee, I wonder who that might be?

Reflectoroids-

You guys will never agree about a new contest format. I have had the
opportunity to operate a small contest station, one which we have had some
pretty repsectable scores from the Carribean and some decent trophies.

At home I have not even bothered to put up a real antenna. I have a
selection of dipoles I put one day to work W6YA while on a dive trip and
left them. I only compete for my own pleasure and could not care less
about competing with guys with 6 over 6 over 6 over 6 and four Alpha Amps
running at any given time. In fact I have a good time even under these
conditions...even with the amp asleep in the closet or garage wherever I
left it last.

The existing formats seem to work, perhaps more awards or classes of
operation? Who really cares if you get beat by some cheaters? Who can
sleep at night and who can't?

THE QUESTION-----------------------

What is the best filter combination for the ICOM 781. The CW filters
are ok but I am need of some sound advice on real SSB filters. Are the
International filters better. I prefer the narrow 1.7 Khz stuff, but the
factory supplied does not cut it.

Any help would be appreciated. Feel free to e-mail direct to me so
everyone does not have to read it.

Thanks. Without you, I would neither be a gun owner nor a Life Member of
