Hi Dave...there is another option for those who have
386or 486 computers and wanted bigger hard drives:
Buy an Adaptec SCSI controller and a scsi drive.
The controller is in the 100-150 dollar range, and the
price differential to get a standard scsi drive is (should
only be) a few bucks.

The SCSI controller handles WHATEVER size drive
you attach (as long as SCSI ID's and other parameters
are set correctly), and the advantage of Adaptec is that
they provide a wonderful software set (drivers) with
each board. Future Domain and others are in the same
market, but I can't comment on those as I haven't used
them.

I've been using SCSI for years on hard disks, tapes
and CD ROMs, and the problem was always getting the
drivers. Adaptec has fixed that.

DISCLAIMER: I HAVE NOTHING FINANCIALLY TO GAIN
OR LOSE IF YOU BUY AN ADAPTEC SCSI CONTROLLER.
ADVICE IS WORTH WHAT IT COSTS YOU.

The ARRL 160m test was a spur-of-the-moment thing for me as I am still
recovering from becoming a father on November 9-slap between CQWW SSB and CW
contests. I still shudder when I think what would have happened if this
happened in the CQWW CW weekend. Anyway, here is my complete 160m log:

W3UM 160C 0258 951202 PA
VE3EJ 160C 0308 951202 ON
K2TW 160C 0312 951202 NJ
K2WI 160C 0315 951202 NJ

Also heard, but not worked:

AA8U, K8FC, NI8L, K1ZM, W3GH

NI8L was a surprise-Scott, don't you have a 20m monobander only? <grin>

The antenna was an inverted V up 9 storeys in my brother-in-law's flat. He
was not too chuffed to be woken up at 4 on Saturday & Sunday mornings.

Hi

I may have the opportunity to be in D44-land during the CQWW 160m contest.
Any suggestions on who I can contact for a licence, gear, etc. I have a
Time Wave DSP, and am thinking of taking it along and leaving it behind to
the guy who accomodates me-I will not be able to take a lot of gear along,
and will have to rely on what's there.

Regards,

Jan zs6nw
