This is correct, according to the documentation with my SB16 card. It also
says:
"3. From the motherboard, connect a wire from the +5Vdc pin on the speaker
connector
to pin 1 of jumper JP11 on the sound card. (see Figure C-1).
4. Connect another wire from the signal-out pin on the motherboard speaker
connector
to pin 2 of jumper JP11 on the sound card (see Figure C-1).
IMPORTANT: If you do no know how to perform this process, seek the help of
an
experienced technician, or you might damage your PC or audio card."
Sounds like polarity is important. Take heed.

Glad to see the comments about Ped and Rufz. I just downloaded both a few
nights ago from the k2mm ftp site.
I find Rufz too stressful to use often. A Rufz session is like running a
full-out quarter mile race...short, but totally painful.
Started playing with Ped last night. I really welcome the CT trainer
feature since I only use CT a few times a year. The problem is my fastest
hour always occurs right at the contest start, and I start getting the hang of
CT on Sunday night!
Ped is neat for another reason. Last night I was running a Ped pileup
session, and smack on top of the pileup was K0OD![me] At first I thought I had
bumped the F4 key. But there I was, loud and with a wonderful fist, calling
over the likes of K0RF and K4VX. I ran upstairs to tell my kids, "Dad is in a
computer game!", which is perhaps the 90s equivalent of making the cover of
Rolling Stone.
Later, I went through the Ped call data file, which turned out to contain
several thousand calls of contesters. I suspect most of you are in there, too.
Being in Ped may not identify you as one of contesting's elite. But it is a
hoot to hear your own call, all digitalized, downloaded and unzipped.

As usaul, we are missing a few Internet Sprint logs. Here are the ones
we would like to get (the numbers are the number of QSOs we know are in
the log). If your call is here, or someone who isn't on the net who you
normally talk to is here, please think about helping us out. The more
logs we get, the more complete the name tracings will be.

IRC is a small Florida outfit that sells upgrades and addons to many
popular rigs, not only filters but things like tuning rate reducers,
audio processors (for rigs that lack them) and other gizmos. They also
do installations. A few years ago, they purchased the rights to Fox
Tango--what had been a competing filter line.
They also archive and sell technical information on various radios:
factory tech releases, and hints and kinks from owners. There is a
library of such things for virtually every rig that has been out for at
least a while. Some of the suggestions are quite likely to improve a
rig's performance, ergonomics, reliability, etc.
The filters they sell are Japanese crystal filters, designed to be
replacements or additions. They claim superior skirts. They also offer
units that have passband widths not available from the manufacturer,
e.g. 400 Hz for CW and a wider selection of SSB bandwidths. They sell
them individually and in sets. A lot of people swear by them. I have
heard otherwise identical rigs with stock and IRC filters, side by
side. There is a discernible and sometimes dramatic difference
I myself have done everything else possible to my TS930S except to gild
it, so I decided to spring for some filters. However, demand exceeds
supply right now and they are not necessarily quickly forthcoming.
Consequently, it would be great to learn who the JA source is, and deal
directly.
Many have complained of erratic, spotty or arrogant service from IRC.
Others profess to have received smooth, efficient and quick response. I
myself have been awaiting filters for months and I am unsure of how to
speed up the process. I am not the "be quiet and wait" kinda guy, but I
know not what to do.

The aim of the two program are quite different.
Ped is mostly for the enjoyment in Pile-ups but RUFZ is just for
copying accuracy tester for High-Speed CW-Championship. So someone
feels RUFZ painful... but I love/enjoy it.

Yes, if you worked 5U7M in CQ WW,CQ WPX,ARRL or WAE you'll able to
work yourself in the pileup made by PED. This is because that most
PED pile-up data was imported from 5U7M's log.
Mas III, JE3MAS, author of the PED has moved in 6Y5 since early
July. Just before the leaveing, he mentioned that he started to
program X-PED for boosted version of PED. I've been looking
forward to play with X-PED in near future.
There is a Phone version of PED called VPED(short for Voice-PED).
This is another fun.
If you wish to exchange more info on PED, JH3PRR has been running
the PED reflector(inactive these days).

I have been a big SSB Contester for quite awhile. Am just starting to do
CW. My speed is no where near the speed that PED starts out with. Please
how do you slow it down. Super program, as someone said it really keeps
you sharp on using CT.
Now for my last thought. PLEASE WRITE ONE FOR SSB IF POSSIBLE!!!

Hi Jim:
I started cw with PED 2 months ago.Not often.Firstly,I could not get them
all.I sat and waited for a moment.The coming cw was going on.Then the speed
seemed to slower.Till I could get them.There were many slow speed stations
called me.I worked them..Now I can make 189 calls an hour in PED.Try it.
As KUMAGAI said,there's VPED for Voice XPedition.It needs a sound board on
your PC.You can DX SSB on it.Find it.

As for the PED mailing list, I am going to close it soon because
1) the author is currently mail unreachable
2) very few trafic (fewer than PED-related trafic on CQ-Contest at tgv.com)

4) CQ-Contest probably tolerates topics of free softwares closely related
to contesting such as PED and VPED
You don't have to unsubscribe nor subscribe yourself.
I will simply modify the set up of majordomo so that
PED mailing list can be used only for PED/VPED file
retrieval by e-mail.
By the way, the author JE3MAS seems to have lost interest in VPED and
he is working mostly on XPED. Anyway, PED related announcements will
be done right here on CQ-Contest mailing list as has been done so far.
