WP3/WX9E in WPX CW

Sorry for the delay folks, I got back late Sunday night and needed a couple
days to recover.

WP3/WX9E   M/S (field day style) 
Ops N0BSH, NP4Z and WX9E

Bottom line is something like:
             2125  x  652  for  something close to 4.5m

Antennas were a 3 el 15m fixed on EU at 20ft (bottom of a 100ft roof mounted
tower), A3 with an armstromg rotor on a push-up mast at 15ft, 40m sloper and
an 80m half sloper.  All near the top of a 2500' mountain.  Rigs were an
OmniVI (great radio, awesome receiver!!!!)  and a 440, Clipperton L amp.
  The wire antennas were put up the previous weekend, and the yagis were put
up a few hours before the contest.  Not too many things went wrong.  Had some
RF getting into the computer, and the breaker blew a few times, but
everything ran smoothly for the most part.  

The first night on 40m was AWESOME,  about 650 Qs with incredibly loud JAs.
  Then the bottom sorta fell out.  Conditions down south were quite odd.
 Felipe said he has never seen anything like it before.   Condx seemed to get
better the farther north you went.  We were listening to several stateside
guys run people we couldn't hear.  15 and 20 had it's moments, but for the
most part was disappointing.    You know condx are strange when a Caribbean
M/S gets beat by some stateside single-ops, and VP5BB who was SOLP!  My hats
off to all of them!

Looks like others are doing the posting thing, so I will put my 2 cents in.
 I ( and others, hopefully) will be operating W0RTD from DN94 in Pierre, SD
on 50 and 144 Mhz during the VHF test.

Also, K1LL/0 and others  will be at Bear Mtn., SD in the western Black Hills 

at 7200 ft elev. with a big setup on each band 50 thru 1296.

May be a few other SD stations on at various locations.  See you in the
test!!

You should have made your comparison using four 0 point QSO's with 1 new prefix
vs four 3-6 point QSOs with 1 or even 0 new prefixes...THAT is quite a
difference!

Even so, I dont mind giving out the 0 pointers once, but if several stations
call, the DX gets preference.  What gets me is when I look at the F9?
Check Call screen in CT and see I've already worked the same US guy on 3 other 
bands or that he's a dupe on the same band.  It gets so bad by Sunday afternoon
that at times 50% of the stations that call are dupes and a large percentage
are US.  Then you tell 'em QSO B4 and they just keep calling anyway until you
work them again just to get them to go away.  

I dont want to sound ungrateful for valid QSO's of any kind, but in the "heat
of battle" 40 hours into a contest, that stuff tends to "get to ya!"

You know I have heard people say that having a funny prefix like "NU6" is 
not a help in WPX.....but there is one thing they leave out....the otherside
of the QSO.  When I search and pounce toward the end of the contest it sure is
nice hearing "Tnx ur a new prefix!" rather than being ignored or scorned for
being worth zero points.

Well I have tried to explain this issue to CQ several times but they say 
the same thing. It is a contest for the US to work DX. Well then in my 
opinion we need to change the name of the contest. I believe WPX stands 
for World Prefix Contest. The last time I looked the US was part of the 
world. If it is for the US to work DX then lets call it DXPX contest. I 
would like to see some point value given to US contacts. I do realize 
that it will affect records but all records were made to be changed. Just 
put a star beside them. Maybe the best bet is to start a new contest. 

Oh well just my opinions. I did run my 94 sweepstakes through the WPX 
contest just to see how many different prefixs I worked. I believe it 
came to about 280 some. Now how would we all like to add 280 multi's to 
your score.
