Cushcraft 402CD

I've been using a 40-2CD since about 1985, and haven't had a bit of trouble
with it. I guess Ohio isn't a real challenging environment, but so far I've
had no problems related to its mechanical properties. When I moved to my new
house in 1987 the plan was to eventually replace the 402CD (at about 90' over
a KLM 10-6) with a BIG 40 on a BIG tower. However, several contest operations
proved that we could work anything we could hear with the Cushcraft, and
plans for a bigger 40M antenna have been abandoned. I'v e worked over 200
countries on 40 with it. I did use a Hy-Gain 402BA prior to getting the
Cushcraft antenna, and there's no contest. The Hy-Gain had an extremely
narrow bandwidth and LOTS of mechanical problems related to the goofy stub
loading and its attendant insulators. I HIGHLY recommend the Cushcraft.

Hi Guys

We will activate KH0AM during this comming CQ WW PH contest
weekend in Multi/Multi.

The Ops are KH0AM/JE1CKA, AH0K, JA1WSX/KI7QD, JH1GTV/N1SID,
JR1EFG/KU0Q, JF1MIA/KH0A, JE2JCV/WH6CQ, KH0BA(YL!) & JA6VZB/
AH0T. Look for her on 28 SSB or 29 FM!
No 160m operation is planned.

We will fly for Saipan Oct 26 and back to Japan 31st. Some
non contest operations will be expected but not too much.

All QSLs via JE1CKA:
Tack Kumagai, P O Box 22, Mitaka, Tokyo 181
But we will send out QSL cards via the bureau to all the
stations who logged on.

*1:Do not send any QSL request to Saipan address which has been
listed on any (FCC) callsign database. We are not resident and
these mails always cause big problems.
*2:$1 does not cover airmail postage to NA/EU so ONE IRC will
be appreciated.

Hi Fred

I have solved the mug situation by using a fine glass Elvis mug which I
picked up last year at Graceland while I was visiting Memphis for the
Central States VHF conference. Looking at the King reminds me of what
excellence in contesting is all about.

I consume copious quantities of Dr. Pepper, the drink of champions,
recommended by both Fred Laun K32O and Bob Cox K3EST.

As for wimpy tea or worse, coffee, I'll have Nunavut.

Is Rick the first victim of the new, improved, simplified contest announcements
in QST? :-)
