Due to family duty I missed a liitle over an hour, all of it 20M time. Would
have been my first full effort in years. Condx were pretty good, much better
than for CW.

Never have enjoyed SSB Sprint much. LP on 40/75 reinforced my feelings.

Subject: HG204 vs HG205... My thinking
Message-ID: <199509180109.VAA22488 at mail1.is.net>

Got up to the contest QTH this AM. Started scoping out the plan for the
would-be 205CA raising. After much thought I came to the conclusion that I
would just put up 2 204's instead. Here's my thinking...

1) I have a 2 element Cushcraft 10' above where the 205 would go. 6 inches
below the 205 is a set of guys. I figure I can handle a 24' boom by myself.
A 34' boom in these circumstances is another story. Esspecially when you
consider I do this all myself. ((True Single-oping!))

2) I already have 2 204's. I would have to buy a mid section to make one of
them a 205 if I went that route.

3) I have a 48' boom 20M that will go on another tower. Plenty of F/B here
with the hill behind it to the SW.

4) I like stateside contests better than DX contests. The 4 element might
make more sense for broader coverage.

If any of you think I'm making a big mistake, please let me know before this
weekend. I can still change my plans back to the 205's if someone can tell
me why I should. Sure is weird thinking that my 40M and my 20M stacks will
have shorter booms than my 15m and 10m stacks!

No Tree... I'm not gonna consider an all band vertical. Thanks.
