Jim AD1C sent out his monthly note about directing CT-related messages to the
correct list, and I jumped on him right here in public. That was wrong;
regardless of my opinion I had no business airing a rude, sarcastic message to
the entire list. I have apologized to Jim and taken the thread private.

There already are contest free zones - the WARC bands, CW during a SSB
contest, SSB during a CW contest, etc. You will never please the
contest-haters with a contest free zone if you don't protect THEIR
frequency, which they've been using every day for the past 20 years, and
assume a squatters-rights ownership. Ergo, a contest free zone would be a
bad precedent, which could induce further attempts to squeeze us into
smaller spaces.
