I didn't have any problem with the information being
posted on the reflector per se. In fact it is probably
useful to many people. My problem is with
Tucker apparently knowing the guidelines and
deliberately choosing to ignore them. It is an
"in your face" approach that I really don't care for.

We are all guests here on the reflector and as a guest
I wouldn't treat my host that way. Just a question of
manners. I initially responded off-line to Tucker and
Trey but my initial response may illustrate why my
viewpoint is somewhat different than yours.

The necessity of adding a line like this indicates that
you know the rules but choose not to play by them.
The reflector is a courtesy that is provided by TGV
and it is disappointing that you feel compelled to be a
bore and apparently make a commercial posting without
following the procedures. The net effect on me is a
negative impact and if your purpose is to solicit business
it tends to do just the opposite for me--both as a ham
and as a commercial enterprise. I would have been
favorably impressed if you had received permission and
then proceeded. I don't mind the bandwidth and the
information would have been of interest but to post
a clearly commercial message in spite of the rules
and apparently knowing them is something that a
gentleman just wouldn't do and I prefer dealing with
gentlemen.

-------------addendum-----------------

This doesn't mean I won't do business with Tucker, just
that their image is somewhat tarnished (for me) by this
approach, and marketing combines many things
above and beyond price--such as after-market
support, perceptions of intent, style, class. This is
truly a minor problem compared to my experiences
in dealing with some of the vendors in Computer
Shopper, so I am not going to worry about it, but it
might be an indicator of Tucker's style, since it seems
to show a lack of respect and class.
