Excellent writeup, Ron. Your posting was one of the things that can really
help a guy decide where to put his money.
On a related topic, I have always wondered how the better tube receivers of
30 years ago would stack up against the receiver portion of today's modern
solid state rigs. When you forget about the fancy "bells and whistles" in
the receiver of today's rigs, which provides the better basic "ears" to
actually hear with in a busy band?
Anybody ever done an objective comparison like Ron's with a good tubed
receiver vs something like the receivers in the TS930, OMNI 6 or FT1000MP
(or any other solid-state rig from the last ten years or so)?
