Ultimate Vanity (Back to the future)

While I was scanning thru the latest issue of Vanity calls, courtesy of KI4NH
I came across a new issue, WN4YKC formally WD4JSX. Look out Trey..
there goes the neighborhood. I wonder if this guy is a contester ? A cw
contester, let him wade thru that call in a cw test. Well at least all my
precious selected calls are still intact for the moment.

Do any of you ever get the sick feeling that there are about 10,000
guys out there with exactly the same list of 25 as you ? After all there are
only
so many 1x2 and 2x1's the play sweet on cw.

Someone mentioned that there were only so many 1x2 calls that sounded
good on CW.  I would like to suggest that there are a lot of 1X3 calls
which might be better than some of the poorer 1x2 calls.

Many of us will remember the hot call Pete Grillo came up with back
in Monrovia, California - W6RTT.  This was a GREAT cw call.

Another interesting idea was suggested by the analysis of CQ WW logs:
It appears the error rate on calls that spell something is very low.
This might be important sometime in the future where contest rules
might be less forgiving if your call appears wrong in someone elses
log.  

Other good calls include those with double letters.  N6RO had the
call W6PAA which isn't a bad call.  

So, before you start putting calls like N7QY down on your list, you
might think about some more desirable 1X3 calls.  Besides, they will
make you sound like a real old timer (not that much of us aren't any 
more).

Hi Tree, liked your comments on the good vs poor 1X2's Hi HI.
Guess all calls are good because thier personal though, don't
know.  This will make the 4'th time I could have changed my
call. But if someone held a gun to my head and said " change
to a 1X2 "  I would say pull the trigger!!

You mean things like sunspots, line noise, power outages, etc?  Isn't 
that one of the "pleasures" of contesting, coming across the things that 
are "out of one's control" and dealing with them? 
I personally wouldn't mind if people spotted me after recognizing my 
voice over the air!  But perhaps I am in the minority...
