Aloha! I am trying to get an invitation on Maui HF station to get feeling of
antipode propagations and do some excersizes for WRTC. Apart from XYL, I might
be accompanied by S53R and T92A, more relaxed competitors. Any sugestions from

I was just wondering if somebody may have seen any modifications/
improvements for the GLA-1000B (adding 160m??).
Any tips, advice, past experience of using the amplifier in
contests etc would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mark,
I haven't seen an old prop pitch motor in a long long time. However, I just
happen to have a recently re-furbished Hygain/Telex Tailtwister rotor and
control box in perfectly good working order. I am asking $350 for the rotor
plus control box and an extra mast mount bracket so that the rotor can be
mast mounted as well as pedestal mounted.
The reason I am selling it is that it is too big for my tower. I couldn't
fully lower the tower when I had it installed as it is a big powerful
monster.

Just in case Glenn K6NA doesn't see your message, I am forwarding it to
him. Aztec RF. I just did his AD for him for the upcoming NCJ. Glenn [K6NA]
has the motherload of remaining PP Motors and he converts them for ham
use. He also has the motherload of knowledge. Lots of elements turning
using his motors.

We had more than 20 people show, which is good for three small clubs. Many
no-coders and recent upgrade hams got a lot of operating time.
Equipment:
SSB1 = TS-430, MP-33 on top of cabin, and dipoles
SSB2 = TS-140S, TA-33 on 30 foot Rohn, G5RV
CW = TS=850S, Butternut Verticle mounted 10 feet high with 16 radials, 40
Meter inverted V and 30 feet, and 80 meter Zepp at 30 feet, flat-top.
Weather: Clear, Sunny, and Hotter than Hell. Tempuratures were 103 in the
afternoons starting on Friday and continuing to Sunday.
Soap Box Comments for the Reflector: Showing SSB2 how to get Qs. Then went
from 38 an hour to around 90 an hour after a little training session. Told
them to be agressive. Showed them how to minimize talking time. Some
listened, some didn't. The guy that didn't listen was an extra and said he
was doing it his way. I went back over to the CW station.
CW Station: 4:30 a.m. 80 meters ...Workd KL7AW. Not bad for 80 meters in
the summer time. Love that Grey Line DX!

What are you guys using in the form of DSP out there. Have yet to get me
a DSP filter.
Any suggestions. I like the Timewave stuff, just on looks...but would like
to get some ideas as to what is being used.

night at the home of Gary, WD6BRV, 29117 Via Piedro in Valley Center.
There is a chapel service Sunday at one PM, at Alhiser-Wilson, 225 South
Broadway in Escondido.
Following the service there is a reception at the Legion Hall at 230 East
Park Avenue in Escondido.

Hi, I'm new here, I was first licensed June 12 1992 as a NOVICE. Six
months later I passed the last element for my EXTRA class license.
Part of me wants to respond to the TECHs who say they should have the
right to use the HF bands even though' they don't know the code, and
part of me does not. So, I'm not going to touch that aspect at all.
I will say this, the ARRL is a membership organization. As such it
has no opinions of its own (HA), but, as the membership's ideas
changed to favor a no-code license the ARRL then supported that
position in front of the FCC. So I suggest that you (any and all
no-coders who want HF privileges without learning the code) join ARRL
and tip the membership scales in your favor.
I am a member of ARRL & the status quo is fine for me, but I'm an
EXTRA. I have also worked for a membership organization in the field
of corrosion engineering. I have seen the membership make it's
opinions and desires evident to the organization. The organization
then MUST respond in the desired manor, or the membership can either
vote to replace key people of the organization, or not renew
membership, which has an even more drastic effect. I lost my job
[at this corrosion engineering membership organization] because the
membership did not want to support software development and I was
one of the software engineers. I believe that decision to be short sighted,
but they voted through the [corrosion engineering membership organization]
BOD and by removing themselves from the membership thus drastically
decreasing available funds.
Perhaps the future lies with the no-code license, perhaps not. We
will only know if enough of you who have one band together and show
us. An organization already exists that has a very loud voice to the
FCC and to congress, it's the ARRL. No other organization in this
country has the voice. So, you can either sit here, gripe and spit into
the wind, or you can join in mass and have your ideas and desires
heard. It's your choice.
