Whenever we decide to go after this, I think we could have a contesting 
home page or something equivalent, contributed to by the contest clubs 
and the contest reflector, on which we do our very best job of putting 
our best foot forward, and touting contests as "the biggest computer 
game in the world," in which as many as 30,000 (whatever the number is) 
people play at once, all "on-line" (on the air, the biggest "on-line" 
there is), and play against themself but also against each other, all 
interacting with each other, not just with their computer software.

Our contesting logging programs could even be redesigned or have an 
optional "computer game" interface, meaning the display might appear 
more like a computer game or pinball game, or something, while still 
retaining the necessary logging info -- like the pinball game goes 
"ding-ding-ding-ding" and racks up the points when you hit certain 
things, our contest display could go ding-ding-ding-ding when we work a 
double mult, etc. (I realize we do get positive feedback now, but we can 
"pump it up" more).

Anyway, we can ride this wave in our own way if we make up our mind to

The only trouble with that is I heard at least three stations ask him if it was je6kya and he
came back each time and said no it was 1e6kya.  Beats me!!!

After checking the worked prefixes I found another reason to use your
normal calls...
There were so many stations who liked to provide us with their special
prefixes that I really had problems finding the normal ones of the
countries. And so I had many dupe special prefixes !

I.e. France, most of them used TM but almost no F's.
     Hungary, the same with HG but less HA.
     Austria, OEM but OE.
     Finland, not one OH1-9 worked but many OI's.
     Spain, many many ED's and some EA's.
     etc.

Well, this might be fine if you're working for the WPX award but you
don't get more multipliers for a higher score in contest.

At least the Italians had so many different special prefixes that I
really didn't miss the usual IK and I stuff.

But anyway, I think the contesters of the certain countries should
think about this next time. I.e. if all the ops of France are going to
use TM someone can make his station a rare one if he decides to use
the F prefix !

And yes, the contest was real fun, as I count myself as a new one in
the big contests. I didn't had the time for a full participation but
did my very best to be on the air as much as I could afford.
And I was quite impressed by the many contacts I made during the first
4 hours on 40m as I just have a ladder fed dipole resonant for 30m and
put 100wtts in it. On the second I even had to lower the power to
50wtts as I had severe problems with rf in the keyer circuit but it
still worked quite ok, although the qsos took more time repeating
numbers, etc..

Well, no question, I'll be there again next year and am trying to do a
complete job in the CQWW CW this time.

Well, if I have had the time to work for 36 hours I'd really
appreciated a little bit more time for sleep and recreation, too. 

I wonder how your KM900P paid off ! Any comments on that ?
