Band Plan Summary

Last week, I asked for info on band plans for other countries.
Unfortunately, I rec'd more requests for a summary than I did
band plans. I did learn that most other countries can only use
from 7.0 to 7.1 Mhz on 40M. Not much info on other bands. One
person said there were band plans in the ARRL operating manual.
I haven't had a chance to look at that yet. I did receive one
complete band plan from Dimtri (RW3FO) but have not included it
in this post as it is quite lengthy. If you would like a copy,
e-mail me and I'll send it to you.

Thanks to those that did respond,

Since most of the world outside North America, South America, and VK/ZL only
have 7.0 to 7.1
how can there be a bandplan except for a gentleman's agreement. The "NEW"
gentlemen's agreement that is forming in that outside of contests seems to be:

CW only 7.0 to 7.04 Mhz
CW and SSB 7.04 to 7.05
Mainly SSB 7.05 to 7.07
SSB and digital 7.07 to 7.095
Mainly SSB 7.095 to 7.1Mhz

Note that only CW has an exclusive band. The dramatic increase of digital
on the band has done more to force SSB below 7.05 and now 7.04 (in contests)
than anything else. As a 40 meter phone Dxer/contester with 340 total
countries I feel that SSB stations respect CW much more than many of the
digital ops respect SSB. I was trying to work a 9M6 last winter when a W7
opened up on packet right on his frequency. A W6 with packet asked him to
move. His response..this was a packet frequency and he would not move.

There are illegal Bc stations that operate 7.065 to 7.08 too that make SSB
operation hard at times.

There can be no bandplan for 40 until the rest of the world can operate the
entire band and we get Broadcast stations to move. This should be our goal
rather than making it harder for transcontinental SSB QSOs to take place.

I agree with Ken and KT$?? (16 year old) If I get my first choice fine if I
get my last fine ( I only made 8 choices). If I get none fine. But K4SB if
you tick off the FCC and they decided to scrap this thing vanity thing I and
many others will be extremly disappointed in you. Yes the FCC and the ARRL
have really done some stupid things that deal with this subject, but those
are the rules and it is to late to change them! Let's just drop the subject
and wait till we get or don't get our new callsigns.

hopefully W3DX, probably W3UR if not then N3RU N3RU N3JR W3UA N3UA W3AM
