The NNY section is definitely alive and well and ready for the SS. We had
more than 6 stations enter the Pa. QSO Party from NNY. Great group of
operators and very proud of their new section. No problem with that
multiplier.

So Steve, you are suggesting that it is OK for SOME stations (non-EU) to
call CQ below 7040 but not others. Make the rule all or nothing.
On the other hand, it IS only one weekend of the year, and NO licensing
regulations are being contravened, at least in the UK. I listened
around 40M last weekend and was disgusted at the abuse and deliberate
QRM some contesters were receiving from CW operators and others on SSB
who were not identifying their transmissions and therefore operating
illegally. At least the contesters were operating within their
licensing regulations. These guys were complaining about SSB below 7040
by using SSB themselves..... hypocritical or what.

I agree totally. Make a clear rule in CQWW SSB that states there should
be no SSB below 7040. Until then, the current situation will continue
(legally), so the ball is squarely in CQ Magazines court. In a similar
vein, I think there should also be a rule in CQWW CW which states that
there should be no CW ABOVE 7040 (it does happen). Then that would stop
the SSB ops complaining about getting unfair treatment.

In a fantasy world it might work. The only way is for the CQ WW commitee to
enforce a contest legal segment for the SSB contest that compleatly would
ban contest SSB activity from below 7040.
All I can say is WAKE UP CQ WW CONTEST COMMITEE since the situation
is totaly out of hand.
