Hi Gang -
Anybody else out there in Internet Land going to the Peoria Superfest/
ARRL National Convention?
I'm leaving Wednesday so I'll have time for a little R&R before the
hamfest. :-) Will be operating 10M, 20M, & 40M SSS mobile both on the
road (band conditions permitting and after I arrive (hope they have a
TALL parking garage at the hotel! :-)
Hope to eyeball QSO with some of you!

Hey, why didn't I thunk of that. Actually, I worked KE7X once for my MT mult
(unscheduled, of course). I could easily arrange for a local to get on and
gimme a call but that seems bogus to me.
However, it is rough from these sections/locations. Why don't we group all
of these areas together and call it the Lousiana Purchase (sorta). The LP mult.

Subject: The Sprint at WA1GUV

In case you are interested, I did make 4 QSO's from VT,
and none were pre-arranged. While trying to "improve"
my antennas Sat. afternoon, I managed to get the ropes
all snarled up in the tallest tree, and went off to a
friend's birthday party with my wires laying on the ground.
Well, one glass of chardonnay led to another and by the time
we got home I really didn't care where my wires were, heard some
plaintive CQ's and answered them. Push button CW really is a
boon to mankind. Anyway, my rate for 4 Q's wasn't that bad,
but the swr was off the charts, so I retired, not wanting to
let the smoke out of my finals.
I gave up on the rope mess and and hung the wires as an inverted
V on Sunday. 20 has been solid Europeans ever since. Have the
band conditions improved overnight or did I just get lucky?

Subject: To correct or not, what is the answer?

During the CW Sprint, several stations incorrectly responded to me by
sending KN5S instead of KN5H. This is a common occurrence but this time it
was very frequent. For the first hour or so of the contest I would correct
my call by slowing down the keyer and sending KN5 E E E E. Soon thereafter,
I decided to stop wasting time and just let the other station log whatever
he thought I was sending.
My questions are 1) at what point do you stop correcting others? They may
have an H in their head but messed up on the transmitting back to me part.
2) What do the log checkers do with these busted QSOs if indeed they are
busted? 3) Can the log checkers penalize me for these discrepancies?
Any response shall be appreciated.
