"all CONTEST software is written for SoundBlaster" --- not.
There exists CONTEST software written to the Windows multi-media
API so it runs on just about any sound hardware you might plug into
a PC. It does WAV files for digitized voice (so you can use real
tools to edit your audio). And it transmits/receives RTTY through the API as well.
So it works on your built-in card, your PCMCIA card, what-have-you.
And its been doing the WAV file trick for about 4 years now. RTTY since last
March.

Ensoniq makes a PCI-based sound card also. It's on their web page:
http://www.ensoniq.com/
Unfortunately, most if not all CONTEST sofware is written for
SoundBlaster-compatible cards, and I don't think this one qualifies.
