Or the Midwest, for that matter.  I've never worked a VHF test from the East
Coast, but from the postings I get the impression they're a totally
different contest.  Some of the rules apparently necessary to keep things
orderly there can have a dramatic negative effect on operations further
west.  For example, the rule prohibiting the use of 146.52 for all intents &
purposes outlaws the use of FM in many areas.  

I don't know what the answer is in general.  With specific regard to SO
stations transmitting on multiple VHF/UHF bands at once, what's the big
deal?  Even during a contest, it isn't like there's continuous CQers from
144.1 to 144.5..  6 always has plenty of room too.  (or is that something
else that's different in W1??)
