I'm also in favor of moving the WPX CW contest to the end of
April. It has been impossible to field a M/M effort in KP4 for
the WPX CW because of the conflicts that arise due to its
present date slot. Graduations,Memorial Day,beginning of Summer
and Summer vacations,the weather isn't cold enough here to
justify a trip to the Caribbean,etc. Holding the contest in
April would make it much easier to gather enough ops for a
successful M/M.

No computer and no memory keyer. I do everything by hand.

One rig, usually only two band changes.
The Sprint is the only contest where I feel a computer slows me down. To
me, there is just too much real time stuff going on that a computer gets in
the way of. I do keep dupe sheets. That way as i'm tuning I just glance
down at my dupe sheet to see if I need the guy or not. I can't see how this
would be any faster with a computer.

Gang,
Its nice to discuss changing the date of the CW WPX Contest, but unless you
get N8BJQ's ear
it will never happen. CQ has a separate Director for each of the major
contests. The Director must first be sold on the idea. The Director has
considerable lattitude on internal changes, but requires CQ staff approval
on changing a "traditional" date. This date is set for many reasons, but
the most important for a fairly new contest such as the CW WPX is the
current contest calendar. The Director must buy the idea then after
putting together sound reasoning sell it to CQ Management.
The CQ WW 160 Phone ran square into the ARRL CW in the late 80's. I found
that 1998 will be the same (The CQ WW 160 must be run the last full weekend
in February so If the last day Sunday is March 1 then we back up one week).
I proposed this to CQ management and they said no. I do see in the CQ
1997/98 calendar that ARRL may have moved the CW to Feb 14-15
and thus avoided the conflict.
The ideas I have seen are sound just make them count!

hello all,
when the visiting contest all-star types used my home qth for the
wrtc/96 competition last summer, they turned off my expensive 250Hz
cw filters, and played rit/passband knob twiddle. they also got a
million qso's, give or take. (the rig is an icom ic-738)
since then, i have watched the contest cw filter discussions, and
have decided i'd like to go for something like 400-500Hz. there is
talk of the fox-tango and/or irci filters. does anyone have a for
sure phone number? some web surfing got me a number which resulted
in a short conversation with a very confused lady in florida, who
assured me that she didn't make or sell any electronic stuff.
who can help? is there a website?
