Is there anything a person can do to lower the interferance caused
by the foreign bc stations on 40M? I don't know if it was the weather
or the time of year or just what but during the last NAQP ssb test
the interferance was really bad at my station here in central Texas.
Thanks for any info,

Hello fellow contesters,
A friend of mine (PY1ROG) asked me to send this message to the reflector.
"I intend to raise a Loop Skywire 4m over the concrete roof of my building
for 80m. My goal is to improve my rx/tx on 80 for DX purposes. Any comments
about this antenna? Is it a good performer for DX? If possible reply
directly to me. 73 to everybody."
Rogerio's (PY1ROG) e-mail is: rcosta at urbi.com.br
Thanks and 73,

Subject: Animosity about A Great Call
Message-ID: <1.5.4.32.19970124181820.0068ad20 at aloha.net>
Hi Bob,
It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I was
told by KH6AFS that he does own the condo in Anchorage,
and of course goes up there regularly, just as the Japaneese
go to Maui to their condo (the couple with KH7A and KH7DX).
Perhaps more ethical for a foreign citizen to
obtain an American call using their condo address in Hawaii
than for Sam, KH6AFS and Dean, KH6B using Sams
Alaskan condo address to obtain an Alaskan call for
a Hawaiian club call. I do not have a club call, so have no
idea what else is put down on a club call application.
I guess the intent is that the club operate within the state to
which the call belongs? In this case, one club member is
the owner of the property at the address of the club license
and happens to spend part of his time in each of
two states: Hawaii and Alaska. Does that invalidate the call;
perhaps, in that Dean, KH6B, and per QRZ, the club trustee
is a resident of Hawaii, not Alaska. I got the impression from
your post, that there were names, calls, address in Alaska
of other amateurs who were listed as members of the
Coconut Wireless Club (or whatever the name is); that
will be interesting to learn about. Must all club members live
in the same state? Still don't understand why the FCC would
issue the call to a Big Island resident, with the call KH6B, as
club trustee, if all club members had to live in the state to
which the license is addressed.. Does a club trustee have
to be a resident of the state in which the club is licensed?
Lots of questions!
I have no idea if the woman Dan mentioned at the address given
at the QRZ data base on Ross St, Anchorage, is a renter in
Sam's condo, or if the address should be Ross Court, or something.
Unfortunately, neither Sam, KH6AFS, nor KH6B, Dean,is on
the internet, nor is too regular on the Hawaii Afternoon
40 meter net. Not sure I would have the nerve to ask
them about all this even if they were!
Guess my feeling is that it is too bad for these guys to get
into trouble when what they thought they were doing was
going to be something special. Just didn't think clearly thru
the ethics of the situation, apparently; nor did I in my defensive
post about their actions.

I will be visiting Sao Paulo,Buenos Aires and Santa Cruz
from Feb 4th until Feb 19th and would really like to meet
any of the South American Contest and/or DX gang. Any one
available to meet a real live Canadian?

What is the practice now when signing portable? Are both ok? About the
time I became inactive the KP2/XXXXX way was in vogue.
