[CQ-Contest] April CQ Contest arrives

The mail seems to be slow this month. Saw a post last week on TowerTalk
that indicated that this issue was out, plus a local contester informed
of an article from his copy. Made some extra trips to the PO box
anticipating the arrival; it did not show up until Monday morning.

Attention Non-Domestic USA readers: Interesting note on page 45 titled
'Improved Foreign Distribution'. Foreign subscribers to CQ VHF (that's
not a typo on my part!) are now receiving their copies via a new Air
Post system which expedites delivery to only one week later than
domestic USA delivery.

Front cover photo of the VooDoo Contest Club members. Only three of them
are visible; however, the "On The Cover" note on the contents page
indicates that there are 7 more hams in the picture. Hey, that voodoo
is real powerful stuff; it makes people invisible! Anyhow, there is a
feature article inside on their efforts. Plus, the front cover now
contains a calendar of contest activities for the month, ala NCJ (nice
feature!, now you don't have to flip through the pages of QST or CQ).

Feature Articles:  The VooDoo That We Do, Operating 96 CQWW DX from Togo;
Araucaria DX Group Certificate of Merit, Honoring Ham Radio Competition;
Announcing the First Annual CQ WW WSX Contest (hint - held on April 1);
QSL the Stars, CQ Intelligent Meat [:-) ?]; and CQWW Rules Addendum
[more :-) ??]

Regular columns: Up The Tower - Antenna Supports; Operating Techniques -
Why Belong to a Contest Club?; Contest Breakdown - How Many Uniques Are
Real Calls?; Contesting History - The Century Club; In The Beginning -
Jim Stevens, K4MA (ex-KI4HN); Monthly Collectible - Contest Clubs of
the World; Continental Countdown - WP2AHW/CQWW 96 SSB, Contesting from
Swaziland, Amateur Radio in Belarus; and Conversation with EA3KU.

New Ads: Create Rotators (full page, inside front cover); Command
Technologies HF-2500E amp; Dunestar has a 8-position remote antenna
switch, Model 808.

Good luck in the CQ WPX Phone Contest!

73 and good reading,
